Blending photography, design, music and fashion to create artful images, Benn is a visual director known for his strong sense of style and high end taste.
A Kiwi raised in the Australian desert, Benn’s career began in his lounge room at the age of 4 where he would dance in front of the TV in a tutu and demand a financial reward at the end of each music video- generally Madonna, sometimes ACDC. His parents thought he might end up being a drag queen, but to their surprise he was accepted into the Conservatorium of Music in Australia.
Realising very quickly that punching out show tunes was not what he wanted to do, Benn took his degree, wiped his ass with it and bailed to London, Paris, Morocco, Ibiza, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Stockholm and the U.S. During his many world tours, Benn discovered photography and finally settled in the United States and worked as a freelance photographer for glossies including Vogue, ZINK, Flaunt and Oyster Magazine.
Soon after, Jae was approached by Universal Music to direct music videos. His extensive music video portfolio includes work for Boy and Bear, Stan Walker, Matt Corby, Angus and Julia Stone, Grinspoon, Havana Brown, Gin Wigmore and The Potbelleez.
Benn’s commercial work spans most of the top Australasian creative agencies including Clemenger, Saatchis, The AJF Partnership, McCann and BWM. He can also ride a horse and motorbike, but not at the same time. Shame, because his dream is to be crowned the next ‘Dare Devil’, mainly so he can wear a crown.
